TRACES

SUDDEN STARLINGS COLLECTIVE & KOMPAGNIE 101 CONCRETE

FESTIVAL KUNST UND KLIMA 2024 | PARTICIPATORY TRAIL

Traces combines contemporary dance and Art du Déplacement (Parkour) with the art of walking. Visitors are invited to join performative forays through Sanssouci Palace Park and across Friendship Island. They can either watch the action or actively participate. A moving dialogue is created between the place and the bodies acting in it.

In cooperation with the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation as part of the theme year ‘Climate change in the green world heritage’: The exhibition ‘Re:Generation. Climate change in the green world heritage – and what we can do’ in Sanssouci Park until the end of October sheds light on how historic gardens can be preserved and sustainably designed in the face of climate change. The exhibition and accompanying programme also inspire visitors to get involved.

VER_ORTEN, a participatory and intergenerational project that took place at TANZWERK WERDER between March and July 2024.

Artistic direction: Eva Burghardt, Elma Riza, Susanne Soldan (Sudden Sterlings Collective)

In the interdisciplinary project VER_ORTEN, the Sudden Starlings Collective worked with 15 participants aged between 16 and 70 from March to July 2024 to visit favourite places, places of memory and inspiration in Werder (Havel) and the surrounding area and explore them through dance and performance.

How do we shape our environment and how does our environment shape us? How can we appropriate spaces in different ways? Is a place always there, or do we create it first?
